Winner of the 2012 Jimmy Watson trophy, 2012 Trevor Mast trophy and 2012 Best Victorian wine trophy - Full, deep crimson-purple; this richly robed shiraz, flooded with blackberry, licorice and ripe plum reflects the six vintages winemaker Justin Purser spent in France, Italy and NZ dealing with wet growing seasons. He has built a wine with excellent texture and structure making light of the weather. It also reflects the fact that neither the Thompson Family or Bin 0 Shiraz were made in '11. All in all, winning three trophies at the Melbourne Wine Show '12 was a just outcome. James Halliday

Bests Wines

Best’s Wines Great Western is one of Australia’s ‘best kept’ winery secrets. Founded in 1866, they are family-owned and operated with some of the oldest and rarest vines in the world. Shiraz, Cabernet and Riesling are our specialties, also producing small-parcel wines using some more unusual varietals and techniques. There’s something very special about the wines from the Grampians Great Western region.
