The east-facing Old Paddock was planted in 1920 and the Old Hill first planted in 1880. In all Mount Pleasant has 10ha of these exceptional old vines, their roots buried deep in the red volcanic soil. The appointment of Jim Chatto as chief winemaker has brought the potential of the vines into the morning sunlight, the synergy between of predominantly black fruits with the red soils impossible to question or better, fantastic tannins a further highlight.
