TASTING_NOTES_HEADING_BLACK

Pepper, scrub and smoked meat on the nose. Lots of toasty oak, but well handled. A very complex aroma for a warm climate Shiraz. Firm palate with plenty of fruit, yet nothing at all extreme here. Makes you want to reach for another glass. James Suckling

Producer

Clarendon Hills

Founded in 1990 by biochemist-turned-winemaker Roman Bratasiuk, Clarendon Hills is a pioneering winery in South Australia’s McLaren Vale region. Bratasiuk built the estate’s reputation by focusing on single-vineyard wines sourced from low-yielding old vines across the Clarendon and Blewitt Springs districts, an approach that was uncommon in Australia at the time. Specialising in varieties such as Syrah (Shiraz), Grenache and Cabernet Sauvignon, the winery is best known for its flagship Astralis Syrah, a cult wine that helped establish Clarendon Hills as one of Australia’s most highly regarded producers of site-driven, small-batch wines.
