Deep red with a residue of purple in the meniscus, the bouquet subdued at first, showing some oak and a slight vegetal overlay, quickly opening out with complex spice, dried herb, dried floral and dried fruit aromas, the palate intense and bold, ripe and rounded with abundant silty tannins and concentrated flavour that evokes raspberry, chinotto, sarsaparilla, and balsamic herbs. The tannins are voluminous and coat the mouth, while the concentrated flavour powers on into an extended and beautifully balanced aftertaste.
