The Farrside Pinot Noir, from vines planted in 2001 on the Farr estate, continues to evolve as one of the most compelling single-vineyard Pinots in Australia. The warmer 2024 vintage shifts the dial slightly from the cool 2023, turning out a release that is a bit fuller, more powerful, and packed with extra muscle, without losing the savoury spicy character this cuvee is famous for. The nose is loaded with dark cherries, black plum, and a flicker of woodsy spice. The palate is fleshy and satisfying, where a creamy texture and rich varietal depth swirl together with layers of clove and a fine mineral edge from the site’s limestone and volcanic soils. The power here is beautifully harnessed, framed by a denser, more commanding tannin structure that will only deepen with time. It remains a standout for collectors, but the extra flesh and power from the 2024 season make it an absolute joy to drink in its youth when the moment calls.
