Extremely subtle and delicate, this has an enveloping nose of tiny red berries and dried flowers. This sparkling rosé masterpiece is just beginning to really open up. Fabulous velvety texture on the mouth-filling palate, the very fine mousse already spot on. Tons of structure behind all this, so this should age really well. From organically grown grapes. 98PTS James Suckling

The 2014 Cristal Rosé sizzles with energy. Finely cut and crystalline to the core, the 2014 is laced with striking vibrancy. Chalk, mint, white flowers, cranberry and blood orange all race across the palate. Deceptively understated and nuanced, the 2014 possesses tons of energy and captivating inner perfume. The 2014 is at the beginning of what is sure to be a very long life. I would not plan on opening a bottle for at least a few years. The style of the vintage is one built on linear intensity more than opulence, like say 2004, with captivating aromatics and a sort of inner tension that needs to resolve. As always, the Rosé is done in the classic Roederer infusion style in which Pinot Noir is vinified on the skins and then blended with Chardonnay to complete the fermentation. Dosage is 7 grams per liter. 97+PTS Antonio Galloni, Vinous

Louis Roederer

Louis Roederer remains one of the last 100% independent, family-owned Champagne Houses, presided over by seventh generation Frédéric Rouzaud. Under the stewardship of Chef du Cave, Jean-Baptiste Lécaillon these past two decades, Louis Roederer has become the largest Biodynamic Domaine in Champagne with their 242 hectares located in the three most important sub-regions: Montagne de Reims (La Montagne); Vallée de la Marne (La Rivière) and Côtes des Blancs (La Côte). In March 2021, following 20 years of environmental transition, 115 hectares of the historic Louis Roederer family vineyard achieved organic certification. Inherited by Louis Roederer in 1834, already in 1845 the House acquired Grand Cru vineyards in Verzy and Verzenay (Montagne de Reims), with the idea to become a wine grower in order to master the entire process of creating wines. The quest for a diversity of terroirs, crus, parcels, and grape varieties was gradually integrated by the House, unique in Champagne today, owning a minimum of 70% of their total needs. In mid-2021 Louis Roederer made the brave and audacious move to replace Brut Premier, created in 1986 by Frédéric’s father Jean-Claude, with a new multi-vintage cuvée, Collection. Largely in response to climate change and riper fruit, and matched by a desire to move towards the best possible blend in any given edition rather than retaining consistency of House style above all else, each Collection has its own identity.
