Established by David Gleave MW and John Ratcliffe in ’05, Willunga 100 focuses on the diverse districts within McLaren Vale and dry-grown bush-vine grenache. Winemaker Renae Hirsch took over from Skye Salter in ’23. Grapes are sourced from single sites across McLaren Vale, including viticulturist Sue Trott’s Trott vineyard, in addition to Willunga’s own 19h site in Blewitt Springs – majority grenache with a plot of 80yo shiraz vines.
Grenache has a wonderfully diverse flavour profile that changes from site to site and throughout its life in the bottle. This sensitivity to a site attracted owners David Gleave MW and John Ratcliffe to McLaren Vale when they first started Willunga 100 in 2005. At the time, few people took grenache seriously, but they saw great potential in the old bush vines of McLaren Vale, particularly from the Blewitt Springs and Clarendon subregions. Today, David and John's vision is to make contemporary McLaren Vale wines with a strong focus on grenache. Willunga 100 wines aim to be an authentic expression of each of our unique sites.

I'm really enjoying this wine. One that you could proudly offer in any company. Rich and beautifully balanced Shiraz without necessarily overwhelming the palate with that big Barossa fruit. I'll be sure to get more
