Woodlands Margaret Cabernet Sauvignon Merlot 2005

A brilliantly elegant, fine and stylish cabernet blend with a structure and texture more akin to a fine Pauillac. Its slightly meaty aromas of liqueur cherries, cassis, earthy minerals and cedar/vanilla oak have almost a pinot-like musky, heady quality. Smooth and seamless, it's long and luscious, with a lavish array of dark berries, plums and cherries backed by lightly smoky cedar/dark chocolate oak and framed by fine-grained and chalky tannins. Long, plump and savoury, with wonderful smoked meat-like complexity, it's simply a cracker. Jeremy Oliver
