ItÕs classically long, shapely and perfectly balanced, with an outrageous length of pristine fruit tightly crafted around a firm, plaint spine of drying tannins, soaking up its classy, tight-grained oak and finishing with exceptional intensity and focus. Wendouree

Wendouree is one of Australia’s most revered and historically significant wineries, established in the Clare Valley of South Australia in 1893 by Alfred Percy Birks and later acquired in 1974 by custodians Tony and Lita Brady, who have maintained its traditional approach for decades. The estate’s dry‑grown, very old vineyards—including Shiraz, Cabernet Sauvignon, Malbec and Mataro—produce exceptionally concentrated, age‑worthy red wines in extremely limited quantities that are primarily offered to a dedicated mailing list rather than through a cellar door. With its original stone winery still largely intact and a cult reputation among collectors for wines of depth, structure and regional expression, Wendouree stands as a treasured piece of Australian wine heritage.
