Billaud-Simon Bougros Chablis Grand Cru 2023

A restrained and attractively nuanced nose is comprised by a plenitude of citrus elements along with pretty floral wisps that are wrapped in moderate but not intrusive wood influence. There is fine volume, richness and power though not nearly the same refinement as the Blanchots or Montée de Tonnerre while delivering excellent depth and persistence on the robust and muscular finale. This is an impressive Bougros and one that should repay up to a decade of keeping. 93 points Allen Meadows, Burghound

A small cuvée with a mix stainless steel barrels and wood, made from contracted grapes. The depth has a little barrel spice. The volume showing some riper citrus fruit. Obvious concentration here – and so much complexity too – both the fruit and the barrel components. The finish quite panoramic with good detail. A delicious and concentrated wine!!
