Tasted out of barrel but assembled to resemble the final blend – although there were ripe apple fruit aromas and lush floral notes, there was also noticeable depth and hints of smoke and mineral. The wine was generous but balanced and lingered persistently on the finish. This will drink well young but will continue improving for years in the cellar. Vinified in older wood this year, mostly in demi-muids. Mid lemon with a little honeysuckle on the nose. An absolute beauty on the palate, with a crisper finish, though the honeysuckle continues on through. This is balanced by fresh lemon, as Clos de la Barre benefits from a lower pH (higher acidity).
