RED BLENDS

Red Wine Blends allow winemakers to essentially take the best of each grape varietal and combine them for what is often much greater than the sum of its parts. The grapes are usually crushed and fermented individually, according to their varietal, before the blending process takes place.

A wine blend is the combination of two or more grape varieties, blended together to achieve a complex, well-balanced wine.

As an example, Cabernet Sauvignon is a bold, full-bodied wine known for its high acidity and strong tannins. Merlot is considered more medium tannin weight and medium acidity. These two grapes are often blended together to balance the intensity of Cabernet Sauvignon and soften its profile without losing its notable characteristics.
