Just over four years on lees, and a dosage of 9g\/l. 2012 was an excellent vintage for Louis Roederer (such a shame there wasn’t a Blanc de Blancs). Ripe-pear with a coating of tangy lemon-balm. The small amount of oak fermented wine gives some tension (and a hint of tannin on the finish), enhancing the impression of minerality. Long and well balance despite the obvious ripeness. This will age with finesse. This has 30% of oak fermentation which has compressed the wine, lending it an air of extreme concentration. The nose is gently spicy, offering peaches and cherries as well as neat autolysis edge. The palate has a powerful, long and assertive feel, with peach and lemon pith, chalky minerals, and some grapefruit.
