The combination of freshness, firm tannin, and fruit draws the wine out to an impossibly long finish. My impression on the day was that this wine has just about everything. It has amazing complexity and fine delineation on the nose, with mineral-rich red fruit, hints of black olive and light sea cave scents. This is overtly mercurial in the glass, the barrel sample constantly urging you back. The palate is beautifully balanced with tremendous weight, transparent red fruit and pliant tannins. Multi- layered with hints of blood orange, it is pure and sensual on the finish, fanning out wonderfully. This is an exceptionally fine La Tâche.
